Sakalya Yin Yoga + Meridians
A slower, more meditative practice for a stronger
connection to self.
Join us at Crystal Tree Yoga in Georgetown Ontario for a 3-part
Sakalya Yin Yoga + Meridian Series
Each class will be unique and will guide the students on a holistic journey through asana
(postures), mudra (gestures, seals), mantra (chanting) and pranayama (breathworks). Yin yoga
poses are held for longer periods of time to allow for the body to full relax into the pose, having
an effect on the connective tissues and helping to move, release and transform stuck and stagnant
energy at the joints and within the body.
Meridian Yoga focuses on the main energy lines of the body and on their associated organs. By
placing our body in certain poses held in specific ways and for a set time, we may allow these
energies to flow more freely, moving through potential blockages so that the body can work
more efficiently and harmoniously.
Yin Yoga is practiced mostly sitting or lying on the floor. There are no planks, warriors, or active
core work in this class. With a consistent Yin Yoga practice, we can become intimately aware of
any imbalances and learn to move into postures mindfully, finding stillness and flowing breath to
bring about a deep sense of peace. Yin specific asana (poses) are explored to encourage healing
of the body’s connective tissues, allowing a release of residual stress and tension on all levels of
being, while increasing joint mobility, range of motion and flexibility of both body, and mind.
